Intra-Kashmir journalist visit to Islamabad / MuzaffarabadOn 19-24 August 2015, a twelve member delegation of journalists from Srinagar did a week-long visit to Islamabad, Muzaffarabad and Lahore on the invitation of Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR) and Centre for Peace, Development and Reforms (CPDR) which gave them an opportunity to interact with their counterparts from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), people from mainstream Pakistani media, key politicians and officials such as, Chairman Senate, Mr. Razza Rabbani, President and Prime Minister AJK and Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.
Additionally, they attended a two-day conference in which discussions were held to build more cross LoC media linkages.
The two sides issued a joint statement that envisages the steps to be taken to build a sustained mechanism for content sharing.
Headed by senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari, the other members included Iftikhar Gilani (DNA Bureau Chief Delhi), Mehmood ur Rashid (Greater Kashmir), Peerzada Ashiq (Hindustan Times), Riyaz Malik (Kashmir Uzma), Hakim Irfan (Economic Times), Shahana Bashir (Press TV), Faisul Yaseen (Rising Kashmir), Zeenat Zeeshan Fazil (Kashmir Images), Rashid Maqbool (Buland Kashmir), Tariq Ali Mir (Belag Sahafat) and Riffat Mohiuddin (Tribune).
