KIG members interact with Radha Kumar and Ambassador Ponappa

A delegation of the Kashmir Initiative Group (KIG) led by Coconvenor Ershad Mahmud, Dr. Shaheen Akhtar and M. Ismail Khan met with Dr. Radha Kumar, Director General of the Delhi Policy Group and one of the three interlocutors for Jammu and Kashmir appointed by the Government of India and Ambassador Leela K. Ponappa, ex- Deputy National Security Advisor and Secretary, National Security Council Secretariat in Islamabad.

Ex-Norwegian PM Bondevik met Ershad Mahmud

Mr. Ershad Mahmud, Executive Director of Centre for Peace, Development and Reforms (CPDR) had a hour long meeting with former Prime Minister of Norway Mr. Kjell Mange Bondevik, who also heads Oslo Peace Centre, about the current state of India-Pakistan relations and Kashmir issue.

Interactive session with Christopher Snedden

Mrs. Farzana Yaqoob, Minister of Social Welfare and Women's Development Government of AJK and Mr. Ershad Mahmud, Executive Director Centre for Peace, Development and Reforms (CPDR) jointly hosted an interactive session with noted historian Dr. Christopher Snedden about the history of Kashmir, its evolution, human rights situation in today’s Kashmir and upcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Gilgit-Baltistan: A province or not

The suggestion that GB be made a province of Pakistan has stirred a new debate, especially about Pakistan’s stance over Kashmir. The undefined status of Gilgit-Baltistan has always unnerved Islamabad. The recently concluded China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) offers the possibility to absorb Gilgit-Baltistan in the larger national polity by making it a formal province of Pakistan.
