The upcoming election in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are just around the corner, while the debate on the revival of Local Bodies (LB) in AJK got new impetus when all the provinces of Pakistan successfully conducted Local Bodies Elections in recent years. The last LB polls were held in AJK in 1991 and the elected representatives of Local Bodies kept working until 1996.

Reviving Public Education System in Azad Jammu and Kashmir: A Citizens’ Perspective

The literacy rate in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is higher in comparison with other provinces and territories in Pakistan. According to different surveys conducted by Alif Ailaan during 2013-15, District Poonch in AJK has been ranked number one whereas the State of AJK stands second in the list of areas with the highest literacy rates across Pakistan.
